LAPD Law Enforcement

The LAPD and Delay Tactics (Mine, Actually.) – UPDATED

UPDATE: The Jerry Brown news conference this afternoon was to announce a large and, it appears, effective gang raid this morning in Compton on the Mob-Piru Bloods. The LA Times has a few more of the details.

*******************************************************************************************************

The interview I’d intended to post today with Deputy Chief Charlie Beck, the former head of LAPD’s South Bureau and presently the head of the department’s detective bureau….will appear tomorrow.

(Unfortunately the time I’d allotted for interview transcribing got highjacked by the need to take a suddenly ailing dog to the vet.)

So look for the Chief Beck interview on Wednesday morning. I think you’ll find it interesting.

PS: Another Richard chapter coming, with luck, late in the week.

OTHER LOCAL OCCURANCES IN THE REALM OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE TO LOOK OUT FOR TODAY include:

1. Attorneys for the Los Angeles Police Protective League will ask a judge today to block implementation of the much-hated policy that would require gang and narcotics officers to disclose their personal finances.

2. California AG Jerry Brown will hold a press conference today at 2 pm to talk about gangs. Jerry’s going to be running for mayor, governor*** so expect him to talk tough.

***Good lord. It’s only Tuesday, and I’m already exceeding my all time personal best in terms of idiotic typos and howler-variety errors.

  • Listener, thanks for asking. She’s having real trouble with her back legs, a situation that came on suddenly over the weekend. The vet is not sure what it is, one of several conditions, all age related, some treatable, some not. We who have critters get so close to them, so I’m not a happy camper.

  • How about the worst gang in America…the Democratic Party? They steal wealth from some to keep for themselves and to give away. Talk about criminal.

  • Re. the update: “At least 200 state and local police officers swept through Compton early this morning, serving more than 30 search and arrest warrants in an operation aimed at dismantling a violent clique of the Bloods gang.”

Thank you for not saying that it was an abuse of police power.

  • But did they violate their constitutional right to bear arms? Notify the NRA at once!

  • How nice that Jerry Brown has discovered Compton, coincidentally on the verge of running for Gov — where was he the last few years, and during his earlier terms as Gov? Maybe if he hadn’t been chasing Moonbeams he’d have done something before we became “the gang capitol of America.”

Of course he’s supposedly finally settled down with a solid woman and grown up, at the age of 70. Well, he’s better than that smug Newsom, anyway, who just discovered (after 20 years) that his city has been violating the law by actively aiding and abetting illegal felons, smuggling them out of the country with city-paid air trips including parole officers as escorts.
