Republicans Use Fillibuster to Derail Dream Act & Repeal of Don’t Ask….

Why is it that every time the Democrats remember (however briefly)
that they have a spinal column, Republicans and equally spineless members of the press decide they’re courting the “Hispanic vote” (OMG!) or the “gay and lesbian vote” (OMG! squared) or…whomever?

Today, the dems actually tried for a short but shining moment to do the right thing by passing the Dream Act and by repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell—both of which were attached as amendments to a defense spending bill.

Naturally the Senate Republicans filibustered the entire bill then voted unanimously to block debate on the must-pass legislative package, presumably until the Dream Act and the DADT repeal riders are removed.

So that means, by extension, that the GOP lawmakers are spending their working days courting the all-white-homophobic-and-anti-immigrant vote?

I’m just curious.
