Congratulations to Jonathan Gold of the LA Weekly, who has been named for Criticism. (Jonathan beat out two LA Times reporters, Mark Swed and Christopher Knight, also very worthy writers, who were shortlisted). Wooo-hooo, Jonathan!
Also, congrats to the LA Times Ken Weiss and his team whose wonderful series, Altered Oceans, won for Explanatory Reporting. It was the paper’s 38th Pulitzer.
And hopefully, not their last. I wonder. How many Pulitzers have gone to “Alternative” Weeklies – that is if you can still call them that.
