SAN GABRIEL – After enduring 29 gang-related shootings last year and a spate of gang-involved killings in January, Monrovia has had no gang shootings since then, thanks to the work of a joint-agency police task force, Monrovia police Chief Roger Johnson told officials at a gang summit Friday. He credited a joint-agency task force set up by Monrovia and Duarte officials and augmented by sheriff’s deputies and gang investigators, California Highway Patrol officers and police from other area cities. So far this year, task force members and other officers have made about 350 gang-related arrests, Johnson said.
