So tell me again why letting other people get married threatens your marriage?

Celeste, something doesn’t have to directly affect me for me to have a view on it or to oppose it. It’s a matter of values and morals and not letting liberals continue to erode our nation in increments. Some guy in San Francisco marrying a goat wouldn’t affect my marriage, but I certainly would be repulsed by it.
On a much smaller issue, you oppose killing of wolves in Alaska, but does that affect your life or that of your dog? If anything, liberals are much worse at supporting causes that don’t affect them at all.
Thanks Obama, for helping pass Prop 8, by stating clearly “I do believe that marriage is between a man and a woman.”
70% of black voters voted for Propostion 8. Thanks again Obama for your statements in support of marriage.
Pokey’s right that Obama went against the black majority on this one, while Latinos were split and whites generally opposed the measure, believing like me, that while two same- sex people getting married may seem, um, akward, any issues that don’t affect my pocketbook unfairly, I live and let live. Good for Obama, though, not voting with “his people” by virtue of mere skin color. In truth this was a politically advantageous move for him, though, since his base is liberal. Let’s see what he does when it’s a risky vote.

I can’t believe in this day and age people can be so backward. Let’s see… if gays and lesbians represent in general 10% of any given population, then it’s okay to deny equal rights to 10% of our people? It can’t be possible that anyone who voted for this ridiculous and shameful proposition has no contact with an LGBTQ individual, so are they just in denial? Because once you know and care about individuals, you care about their rights. Hitler also persecuted and murdered homosexuals. Let’s not forget this.
Why deny consenting adults the right to marry? Who gets to define “traditional marriage”? Religious extremists? How is this just in a pluralistic society?
The rights of minorities should NEVER be put to a vote by a majority. It’s for the people who understand consitutional law to decide these critical issues.
