Sometime shortly before 8:40 p.m. on Tuesday, a man, approximately 30-years-old, jumped, fell, or was pushed from an outer stairwell at the Radisson Hotel at 3540 S. Figueroa, across from USC.
According to Lt. J. Oka of Southwest Division of the LAPD, preliminary indications are that the man jumped. “But that’s just preliminary,” he told me.
“Whatever the case, it’s tragic,” he said. Thus far, police have located no direct witnesses to the event, but officers are still hoping a witness will come forward.
As of early Wednesday morning, it was not yet known if the man was a USC student.
Several floors at the Radisson are used by the university as student residential dorms.

UPDATE: The man was 38-years old, and it appears that the fall was from an 8th story window, not the stairs.
Probably couldn’t breathe anymore.
He was pushed. A pill overdose is painless and a gun is sure and without the falling anxiety.
I feel so bad for the janitor that had to clean this bloody mess up. He is going to need therapic counseling sessions and maybe a raise.
Someone going to kill himself by jumping out of a window should consider that eight floors may not be enough if you landed right or hit something other than the hard ground. I’m not buying the suicide.
