INTRODUCING…..the one, the only….Alan Mittelstaedt!
Celeste Fremon

I’ll be holed up at Bennington College in Vermont for the next two weeks….working on turning my “American Family“ series into a book. (It’s a project overdue for a hard kick into high gear! )
During that time, I’m leaving WitnessLA in the extremely capable hands of my very smart friend, Alan Mittelstaedt.. Until recently, Alan was the longtime news editor of LA Weekly (who recruited and guided most of the paper’s best news reporters and columnists). And he’s an excellent columnist in his own right.
(I’m hoping he’ll reignite some of the spirit of his infamous LA Sniper columns here.)
Please give him your support. I think you’ll find WLA is going to be VERY active and provocative in my absence!
In the meantime….here’re some links to four good stories to chew on:
1. MARTIN LUTHER KING-HARBOR CONTINUES TO DECOMPENSATE….
2. THE PARIS ISSUE WON’T GO AWAY FOR USUALLY BULLETPROOF SHERIFF LEE BACA.…
3. THE DWP HAS BEEN “ACCIDENTALLY” OVERCHARGING THE SCHOOL DISTRICT (AND OTHERS) TO THE TUNE OF AT LEAST $220 MILLION (Forget it, Jake. It’s Chinatown.)
And, of course…
4. THERE’S THE MAYOR’S IMPENDING DIVORCE..
Tells us what you think of any and all.

Oh, great. We lose one left-wing writer who is reasonable for another left-wing writer who attacks you if you don’t provide your full name and bio. I hope Alan’s art work for the titles measures up.
Celeste, I will volunteer to proof your draft before you hand it to the publisher. We don’t want any silly embarrassments like failing to mention personal responsibility. I will be working on the “Forward” while you are gone. Have a productive trip, and stay away from those Vermont communists.

Well, we never see them in the AP football rankings, and that’s what counts most.

Family members finally checked Ponce out against the suggestions of King-Harbor staff and took him to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he had surgery within hours. That case, first disclosed by LA Weekly, was one of the chief reasons for the recent federal sanctions.
Congratulations Celeste, on shining some light on King Harbor, it looks like your article got some movement. http://www.laweekly.com/news/news/escaping-with-his-life/16446/

Aren’t you glad you took this on? I note that the “Princetom Review” list of “Most Liberal Coleges” has anodynes. So Pitzer students also choose to apply to Claremont-McKenna (formerly Claremont Men’s till it went co-ed) which rather gives the game away as anyone here on the Left Coast will tell you thaat the faculty and outlook of that place is quite right-wing. In fact the only difference between Claremont McKenna and PPepperdine is that the former has students with high SATS while the latter competes with places like Regent and Liberty U.
Oh well . . .

Have an enjoyable and productive trip, Celeste. We will miss you while you’re gone, but welcome Alan as a great substitute. Maybe Alan can trim a few ears around here. There are days I’d even supply the twitch.

Celeste, twenty-four hours have passed since this post with nothing else following. How much are you paying Alan, and can we expect a partial refund of our subscription fees? Soon, may we expect a post condemning the biased liberal press? I hope your trip is going well behind the iron curtain.
