OBAMA FRIDAY: Neon Tommy is Obama Central

October 22nd, 2010 by Celeste Fremon

Thirty thousand people are expected at USC on Friday
to see and hear Barack Obama.

Quite logically the news organization in the best position to cover everything is Annenberg’s Neon Tommy.

And indeed the NT crew has leaped fully into the middle of the opportunity.

Here, for example, is a look at the campus set-up as it was being built.

And here are some thoughts by editor-in-chief Callie Schweitzer about how “the president’s USC rally could be the most crucial stop of the national campaign to hang onto Congress.”

But the big deal will be Friday when NT will be live streaming, have slideshows from the scene, a reporters’ notebook blog that will run all day with crowd reactions and journalist POVs.

And, all will be tweeting, of course. Use the hashtag: #obamaUSC

So if you can’t go to see the president in person, but wish you could, Neon Tommy may be the next most dynamic thing.

What an exciting day for USC. I hope while Obama’s out here he visits the real people of the LA area, too. I hope he visits Compton, Watts, and even East Los Angeles. While many like to exploit the rift between blacks and Latinos in LA, it’s noteworthy that the vast majority of LA’s Latino community voted for Obama. I think his presence would mean an awful lot to these communities, especially the children, who would never forget the day.

You mean like when Loretta Sanchez tried to create a rift with certain Asian groups a few weeks back?

  3. WTF Says:

Why waste space by posting a picture of the Media-WHORE, Antonio VillaBaboso?

WTF doing his best George Allen impression.

  5. Script Says:

I think it’s a good picture. Here you have two statesmen that the REAL people of Los Angeles voted for, not that a small, elite group of Simi Valley residents put into power to enact what’s in their best interests for Los Angeles. Those two men aren’t perfect. And all politicians are corrupted. But they’re products of the people. John McCain and Richard Riordan would not be.

  6. Sure Fire/Nikki Says:

Bring Reg back Celeste. Tell him I’ll be nice and not kick his ass for a few threads. Rob is so less the challenge.

  7. Script Says:

Just think, SF, it could have been John MccCain and Richard Riordan in that picture. Uggggggh. I vomit a little just thinking about it. Don’t you think it’s sad that for so long a few elites who reside in places like Simi Valley have controlled Los Angeles? I do. I like Anotonio Villaraigosa, de East Los!!! A real Angelino! He’s got his problems but he is a breath of fresh air from the country clubbers that were the face of that city for so long.

  8. Sure Fire/Nikki Says:

I’ll have an ordered of implied racist thought with a side of ranch please.

  9. Script Says:

Has nothing to do with race. It has to do with someone who is actually from Los Angeles representing Los Angeles, and a president that most of Los Angeles voted for. It could have been John McCain and Richard Riordan up there. And such a tandem would represent about 10% of Los Angeles. A president Angelenos didn’t vote for and a mayor snaked into power by elites, most of whom which don’t even reside in city limits. Simi Valley snobs; an unholy alliance of private government contractors, greedy developers and dirty cops. You know the types. I find the sight of Tony V and Barack to be much more of a relief. Representation of the real people of Los Angeles.

  10. Sure Fire/Nikki Says:

What do you do for a living Rob? Brave enough to say? Can you name a dirty cop that you know who lives in Simi? Of course you can’t, that’s what makes you a tard with no game. Try pissing someone off that will take your bait poser, I’m a bit beyond that.

  11. Answering The Question Says:

Country clubbers? How much golf has the new guy played? lol

    ………….

I don’t know. Do you live in Simi Valley? lol.

  13. Sure Fire/Nikki Says:

Nope. That’s your best? I’ve hooked teenagers with better lines.

  14. Sure Fire/Nikki Says:

Forget to say what you did for a living Rob or uncomfortable with the answer?

  15. Script Says:

Sounds like you’re uncomfortable admitting you live in Simi Valley. It would confirm my point that Simi Valley is a haven for dirty cops.
