OBAMA FRIDAY: Neon Tommy is Obama Central

Thirty thousand people are expected at USC on Friday to see and hear Barack Obama.
Quite logically the news organization in the best position to cover everything is Annenberg’s Neon Tommy.
And indeed the NT crew has leaped fully into the middle of the opportunity.
Here, for example, is a look at the campus set-up as it was being built.
And here are some thoughts by editor-in-chief Callie Schweitzer about how “the president’s USC rally could be the most crucial stop of the national campaign to hang onto Congress.”
But the big deal will be Friday when NT will be live streaming, have slideshows from the scene, a reporters’ notebook blog that will run all day with crowd reactions and journalist POVs.
And, all will be tweeting, of course. Use the hashtag: #obamaUSC
So if you can’t go to see the president in person, but wish you could, Neon Tommy may be the next most dynamic thing.

What an exciting day for USC. I hope while Obama’s out here he visits the real people of the LA area, too. I hope he visits Compton, Watts, and even East Los Angeles. While many like to exploit the rift between blacks and Latinos in LA, it’s noteworthy that the vast majority of LA’s Latino community voted for Obama. I think his presence would mean an awful lot to these communities, especially the children, who would never forget the day.

I think it’s a good picture. Here you have two statesmen that the REAL people of Los Angeles voted for, not that a small, elite group of Simi Valley residents put into power to enact what’s in their best interests for Los Angeles. Those two men aren’t perfect. And all politicians are corrupted. But they’re products of the people. John McCain and Richard Riordan would not be.

Just think, SF, it could have been John MccCain and Richard Riordan in that picture. Uggggggh. I vomit a little just thinking about it. Don’t you think it’s sad that for so long a few elites who reside in places like Simi Valley have controlled Los Angeles? I do. I like Anotonio Villaraigosa, de East Los!!! A real Angelino! He’s got his problems but he is a breath of fresh air from the country clubbers that were the face of that city for so long.

Has nothing to do with race. It has to do with someone who is actually from Los Angeles representing Los Angeles, and a president that most of Los Angeles voted for. It could have been John McCain and Richard Riordan up there. And such a tandem would represent about 10% of Los Angeles. A president Angelenos didn’t vote for and a mayor snaked into power by elites, most of whom which don’t even reside in city limits. Simi Valley snobs; an unholy alliance of private government contractors, greedy developers and dirty cops. You know the types. I find the sight of Tony V and Barack to be much more of a relief. Representation of the real people of Los Angeles.

Sounds like you’re uncomfortable admitting you live in Simi Valley. It would confirm my point that Simi Valley is a haven for dirty cops.
